Learn the Rune Oracle
“Seeing the Orlog”
In this training you’ll make your own set of runes and learn how to cast them.
For thousands of years our shamanic ancestors have consulted oracles to gain insights into the conditions surrounding major decisions so as to make the best possible choices for the benefit of tribe, family, or self. Spiritual practitioners still consulted oracles regularly to gain insights into what karmas they should be paying attention to, when is a good time to take a retreat, what type of practice should they be doing, and as a medium for communicating with the deities of the tradition, especially their specific protector-teacher deity.
The word Orlog is the ancient Norse word for the interdependent connections and patterning of all the manifested worlds. “Reading” the Orlog is an important skill of the shaman-priests.
The seers used various methods to make the hidden fabric of the worlds visible – known. They used repetitive drumming & chanting, repetitive movements, self-inflicted pain and austerities, special plants, and reading the Runes to open into and cognize the future or hidden knowledge.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
In this training you’ll make your own set of runes and learn how to cast them. You’ll learn their many meanings and how to perform different types of castings for different types of inquiries.
The associations of the runes will be embodied through daily practice of what some have called “rune yoga”. In this practice you perform the 16 rune-stances that coordinate the mind, breath and body creating a profound connection to the runes as gateways to alternate realities. This increases your ability to connect to the runes as an oracle device producing more accurate interpretations of the runes pulled.
Spiritual practitioners can use the rune for predictive purposes or to understand the situations that arise in life, their meaning, and how best to navigate them. They can also be used to assess one’s progress, current karmic limitations being worked through, unseen obstacles to practice coming from our own psyche or from external factors. Healers can learn to use the runes as a diagnostic tool, often uncovering a hidden cause of a patient’s affliction. Healers can also use them to create treatments and for prognosis.
*Bring a small pocketknife to carve your runes and a small drawstring pouch to keep them in when not in use. The pouch should be large enough so that hand is able to comfortably open inside of it. It is advised to bring a notebook as well.

Dharma Bodhi (Kol Martens)
Dharma Bodhi began practicing yoga at seven years of age. In his teens he moved into practices of Chan Buddhism and Daoism received through his Chinese martial arts teachers in New York. After completing his chiropractic degree he studied in an Oral-Practice Tradition of Non-Dual Śaiva Tantra, taking initiation into one of the Daśnami Orders of practice from India. In 1996 he complete ācārya training under his Śaiva gurus. This training emphasized traditional Kundalinī Hatha Yoga and a progressive system of Meditation, along supportive studies in ritual/pūjā and yoga texts. Since graduating as a Śaiva ācārya, he took refuge with a great master of Bönpo Dzogchen meditation, and studied with him by taking multiple trips per year to his monastery in India for a period of 8 years. He studies both Dzogchen meditation & yoga (trul khor), and Dzogchen preliminary and advanced texts. Both his Śaiva and Dzogchen masters gave him the task of teaching these systems stripped of the unnecessary aspects of the cultures and languages they are found in. His Dzogchen master also gave him the task of translating two Tibetan texts. One of which is finished and the other is in process. He now lives with his wife, Sahaja Dakinī, and their two children in rural Maine, USA. He is developing a practice hermitage in the wilderness of Maine and a European teaching center on the border of Italy and Switzerland.
